Jon Favreau is an American filmmaker, actor, and screenwriter known for his work across major franchises like Marvel and Star Wars, as well as several successful standalone films.
As a director and executive producer, he is widely credited with helping launch the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) by directing the first two Iron Man films (2008 and 2010), in which he also appears as Tony Stark's driver and friend, Happy Hogan. He continued to appear as Happy Hogan in several subsequent MCU films.
He is also a key figure in the Star Wars universe, serving as the creator, showrunner, head writer, and executive producer for the highly successful Disney+ series The Mandalorian.
Other notable directing credits include the Christmas classic Elf (2003), the critically acclaimed, technologically groundbreaking Disney adaptations of The Jungle Book (2016) and The Lion King (2019), and the indie favorite Chef (2014), which he also wrote and starred in.
Favreau first gained recognition as an actor-screenwriter for the 1996 film Swingers, in which he co-starred with Vince Vaughn. His other acting roles include the film Rudy and a recurring role as Pete Becker on the sitcom Friends.
