Kimora Lee Simmons is an American businesswoman, fashion designer, television personality, and former fashion model.
She began her career as a model at a young age, signing with Chanel as a teenager and working under designer Karl Lagerfeld. She walked the runway for fashion houses like Fendi and Valentino, and appeared on the covers of magazines such as Vogue and Elle.
Simmons is perhaps most widely known for launching the global lifestyle brand Baby Phat in 1999, where she served as President and Creative Director, becoming one of the first women of color to preside over a stable of fashion brands. The brand was noted for creating a category of urban lifestyle apparel for women. She later launched her namesake womenswear line, KLS by Kimora Lee Simmons.
Her television career includes starring in the reality series Kimora: Life in the Fab Lane and Kimora: House of Fab, and serving as a judge on the first season of America's Next Top Model.
Born Kimora Lee Perkins on May 4, 1975, in St. Louis, Missouri, she is of African-American and Japanese-Korean heritage. She is the author of the 2006 book, Fabulosity: What It Is and How to Get It.
