Nathan Fillion is a Canadian and American actor known for several major television roles.
His most notable roles include:
* Captain Malcolm "Mal" Reynolds in the science fiction series Firefly (2002–2003) and its film continuation, Serenity (2005).
* Richard Castle on the ABC mystery-comedy series Castle (2009–2016).
* Officer John Nolan on the ABC police drama series The Rookie (2018–present), where he also serves as an executive producer.
He was born Nathan Christopher Fillion on March 27, 1971, in Edmonton, Alberta. Before his breakthrough roles, he gained recognition for his work as Joey Buchanan on the soap opera One Life to Live (1994–1997).
Fillion has also had various roles in films, including a small part in Saving Private Ryan, and has done extensive voice work for animated series and video games, such as voicing Green Lantern/Hal Jordan in multiple DC animated films and Cayde-6 in the Destiny video game series.
