Idina Menzel is an American actress, singer, and songwriter, widely recognized as a powerhouse vocalist and a leading star of Broadway.
She is perhaps best known for originating the roles of Maureen Johnson in the Broadway musical Rent (for which she received a Tony Award nomination) and, most famously, Elphaba, the Wicked Witch of the West, in the smash-hit musical Wicked, which earned her a Tony Award for Best Actress in a Musical.
In film and television, her most famous role is voicing Elsa in Disney's animated blockbusters Frozen and Frozen 2, performing the Oscar-winning, multi-platinum hit "Let It Go." She has also appeared in the film adaptations of Rent and Enchanted (and its sequel Disenchanted), and had a recurring role as Shelby Corcoran on the TV series Glee.
Often referred to as the "Queen of Broadway," Menzel is celebrated for her powerful mezzo-soprano voice and commanding stage presence.
