Rick Ross, whose birth name is William Leonard Roberts II (born 1976), is an American rapper, songwriter, entrepreneur, and record executive.

He is widely considered an influential figure in modern hip hop music and is known for his "booming" vocal performance, "larger than life" persona, and vivid lyrical imagery that often describes affluence, wealth, and luxury, framing a rags-to-riches narrative. His music is generally categorized as Southern hip hop, gangsta rap, and trap.

Ross gained major prominence in 2006 with his debut single "Hustlin'" and his debut album Port of Miami, which debuted at the top of the U.S. Billboard 200 chart. He has since released numerous charting albums. In 2009, he founded the record label Maybach Music Group (MMG), which has signed artists like Meek Mill and Wale.

Beyond music, Ross is also a successful entrepreneur with various ventures, including owning several Wingstop franchises and a luxury clothing line. He adopted his professional name from the former drug kingpin "Freeway" Rick Ross, to whom he has no personal connection.
