Brent Spiner is an American actor, musician, and author. He is best known for his iconic portrayal of the pale-skinned, emotion-seeking android Lieutenant Commander Data on the television series Star Trek: The Next Generation, its spin-off films, and Star Trek: Picard. Within the Star Trek franchise, he also played related characters, including Data's android brother Lore and their creator, Dr. Noonien Soong.
Beyond Star Trek, Spiner has appeared in notable film and television roles, including the eccentric scientist Dr. Brackish Okun in Independence Day and Independence Day: Resurgence, as well as voice work such as voicing the Joker in the animated series Young Justice.
He began his performance career in theater, starring in various Broadway and Off-Broadway productions like Sunday in the Park with George and 1776. Additionally, Spiner has recorded albums as a vocalist—notably Ol' Yellow Eyes Is Back—and authored the semi-autobiographical novel Fan Fiction: A Mem-Noir.
