James Marsters is an American actor, musician, singer, comic book writer, and audiobook narrator. He is widely known for his role as the British punk vampire Spike in The WB series Buffy the Vampire Slayer and its spin-off, Angel.
Born on August 20, 1962, in Greenville, California, his career also includes acting roles on television shows like Smallville (where he played Brainiac), Caprica, and Torchwood. He has also done voice-over work for animated shows and video games, including characters in the Dragon Ball franchise.
As a musician, he was a part of the band Ghost of the Robot and has also released solo albums such as Civilized Man and Like a Waterfall.
