Louis Tomlinson is an English singer and songwriter who first gained massive global recognition as a member of the boy band One Direction. Born on December 24, 1991, in Doncaster, England, he auditioned for the reality television show The X Factor in 2010, where he was grouped with four other contestants to form the band. Together, they became one of the best-selling boy bands of all time.
Following the group's indefinite hiatus in late 2015, Tomlinson transitioned into a successful solo career. His music leans toward a blend of indie pop, Britpop, and indie rock. He has released three solo studio albums:
Walls (2020)
Faith in the Future (2022), which reached number one on the UK Albums Chart
How Did I Get Here? (2026)
Beyond his recorded albums, Tomlinson is heavily focused on live performance and touring. He is known for building a highly dedicated and loyal fan base through a heavily independent touring model. He also founded and curates The Away From Home Festival, an international one-day music festival designed to showcase indie artists, and launched a lifestyle/streetwear brand called 28. Additionally, he briefly returned to The X Factor in 2018 as a main judge, becoming the first former contestant to mentor a winning act on the show.
