Misha Collins, born Dmitri Tippens Krushnic on August 20, 1974, is an American actor and author. He is widely recognized for his main role as the angel Castiel on the CW television series Supernatural (2008–2020).
Before his acting career, he interned for four months at the White House during the Clinton Administration in the Office of Presidential Personnel. He studied social theory at the University of Chicago, graduating with honors.
In addition to his television work, which includes appearances in shows like 24, ER, and Monk, he has published poetry and co-wrote a cookbook titled The Adventurous Eaters Club with his wife, Vicki Collins. His poetry book, Some Things I Still Can't Tell You, reached the New York Times bestseller list.
Collins is also known for his philanthropic work. He is the co-founder and board president of Random Acts, a non-profit organization dedicated to funding and inspiring acts of kindness around the world. He also founded the international scavenger hunt, GISHWHES (Greatest International Scavenger Hunt the World Has Ever Seen), which raises money for Random Acts.
He was born in Boston, Massachusetts, and has been open about his early life, stating that his family was poor and often homeless when he was growing up. He married Victoria Vantoch in 2001, and they have two children, a son and a daughter.
