Randall Darius Jackson is an American record executive, television presenter, and musician, best known for his long tenure as a judge on the reality singing competition show American Idol from 2002 to 2013.

Before his television fame, Jackson had a significant career in the music industry, starting in the 1980s as a talented session bass guitarist for a wide array of artists across jazz, pop, rock, and R&B, including a stint with the band Journey (playing on their 1986 album Raised on Radio). He also worked as a record executive, spending years as the Vice President of Artists and Repertoire (A&R) at both Columbia Records and MCA Records.

On American Idol, he was known for his agreeable personality, relaxed style, and signature catchphrases, most famously "Dawg!" and "It's a no from me." He provided a balanced presence alongside original co-judges Paula Abdul and Simon Cowell.

He has also served as an executive producer for MTV's America's Best Dance Crew and is currently the bandleader for the game show Name That Tune.
