William Ray Norwood Jr., known professionally as Ray J, is an American singer, songwriter, actor, television personality, and entrepreneur born on January 15, 1981, in McComb, Mississippi. He rose to fame in the late 1990s as a teen R&B artist with hits like "Let It Go" from the Set It Off soundtrack and his debut album Everything You Want (1997). His second album, This Ain't a Game (2001), featured the single "Wait a Minute" with Lil' Kim, which peaked at No. 30 on the Billboard Hot 100.

Ray J is the younger brother of R&B singer Brandy Norwood and gained further mainstream attention through reality TV, starring in the VH1 series For the Love of Ray J (2008–2010), which documented his search for love. He later appeared on shows like Love & Hip Hop: Hollywood and Celebrity Big Brother.

Beyond music and TV, Ray J became a tabloid fixture in 2007 due to a leaked sex tape with then-girlfriend Kim Kardashian, which propelled her to stardom and led to the creation of his sex tape company, Raynet Video Productions.
