James Gunn is an American filmmaker, screenwriter, and producer. He is widely known for his work in the superhero genre, particularly for writing and directing Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy film series, as well as writing and directing DC's The Suicide Squad and its spin-off television series, Peacemaker.
He began his career working on Troma Entertainment films before writing the screenplay for the 2004 horror remake Dawn of the Dead. He made his directorial debut with the horror-comedy Slither in 2006.
In 2022, he was appointed the co-chairman and co-CEO of DC Studios (alongside Peter Safran), placing him in charge of the development and production of all DC Comics film, television, and animation projects.
