Joe Biden (Joseph Robinette Biden Jr.) is an American politician who served as the 46th president of the United States from 2021 to 2025. A member of the Democratic Party, he has had a long career in public service spanning over five decades.
Before his presidency, Biden represented Delaware in the U.S. Senate for 36 years (from 1973 to 2009) and later served as the 47th vice president under President Barack Obama from 2009 to 2017.
Born in Scranton, Pennsylvania, in 1942, Biden entered the presidency during the COVID-19 pandemic and a period of intense political polarization.
