Steve Carell is an American actor, comedian, producer, writer, and director.

He is widely known for his comedic roles, most notably as Michael Scott in the US sitcom The Office (2005–2011), for which he won a Golden Globe Award.

Other popular roles include the awkward title character Andy Stitzer in the film The 40-Year-Old Virgin (2005), the unintelligent weatherman Brick Tamland in the Anchorman films, and the voice of the supervillain Gru in the Despicable Me and Minions animated franchises.

Carell has also earned acclaim for his work in dramatic roles, receiving an Academy Award nomination for playing the eccentric millionaire John Eleuthère du Pont in the film Foxcatcher (2014) and starring in critically acclaimed projects like Little Miss Sunshine (2006) and The Big Short (2015).
